About Me:
I am interested in learning that works. I am creative, energetic, curious, and always
reading, either on the Internet or in real books. I love books. I love the Internet.
I have a gift when teaching children. I can inspire them to learn and work hard to
continue learning. I have studied in depth astronomy, astrophysics in particular, oceanography,
in depth, and in particular to create a project. I was dragged into the woods by a mentor and so for a time
I learned to read the out of doors and to take children there to learn.

Once I was a teacher of the gifted, but I learned that with technology I could extend my reach to all. Trust me
principals, and supervisors and naysayers were after me when I pushed the envelope but my students always tested'way above the mark and over a period of years
parents sought me out.. to teach their child.

For a time I devoted myself to teaching anf learning. I had lots of help
NASA, National Geographic, Earthwatch, Baltimore Aquarium and Mamea,
I collect courses of interest to me and so I have attended a variety of
institutions/universities for the joy of learning.

I am learning SuperComputing, and many things technology.

I have been a dancer, a model, a teacher, and I work in media around the world with the World Summit on Media for Children and the Agora.

Cooking is one of my hobbies. I have cookbooks from around the world and spices and mixtures from various cuisines.
Gardening is a hobby too. I just dabble in it. I was trained as a florist by my mother, so I love flowers.

I have owned a lot of cats, but when I began to travel a lot, I gave that up.

I was a Christa McAuliffe Educator for the NEA, a Challenger Fellow, Faculty of the Challenger Center and a partipant in New and NEWEST, NSTA.
I collect university experiences.

My most rewarding job , for inner satisfaction was teaching children.
But I worked for President Clinton and Al Gore and in a no child left behind
mentality, my skills and knowledge were not wanted. Were suspect.

The Biggest Loser . ....America in Science, Technology Engineering and Math

A discussion of emerging technologies created quite a stir among the members of the center.

My ideas of emerging technologies have always been put down. But I have important businessmen and civic people who have the same concerns that I have. Social networking is one thing but ongoing innovation, imagination, insight, constructivism, ingenuity, impact and invention are important too. Look at http://www.compete.org. The business people say it better than I can.

My problem is that I am creative, innovative and all of the things that Norman Augustine and the Innovation Proclamation want. But... that is not what schools are visioning.

Barry McGhan, a retired Michigan teacher, writes that despite NCLB's admirable intentions it is deeply flawed due to its emphasis on penalties without any opportunity for reward. "This all-stick-no-carrot approach perpetuates a top-down system where power is held by people who have no accountability for the work to be done," he writes. Detroit Free Press (1/3)

I love regular subjects and media. I just think we have given away our lead in technology and it is slipping, slipping, going, going , gone.
